Alberta Canada Archery Whitetail Hunts

Alberta Whitetail Rifile Hunts

Contact us to discuss early season options.

The dedicated traveling Whitetail hunter has two choices of when & where to hunt Whitetails with Archery gear in our productive areas, both for our ‘Early Season’ hunt, as well as for our ‘Late Season’ October hunt.

The ‘Early Season’ hunts are ran through the period of late August while our bucks are still in velvet, into the early September period where bucks may still be in velvet, or have just shed. This hunt is ran by AWGS Partner – Tyler Shyry out of our Westcamp area & lodge. Most of the ‘bachelor groups’ of bucks we have been watching since July are still grouped up in some capacity, & our setups take advantage of movement in relation to the food sources we have in the area – such as Oats, Alf-alfa, Peas, Barley, & Wheat. We do also utilize some of our many natural mineral ‘licks’ we have as well, for both a mid-day sit, or an all dayer should it be the time.

Most of our set ups on this hunt have you hunting a morning & evening sit arrangement, but we have found if the conditions are good for it, you may pull the odd ‘all day sit’ This early season timeframe also has you in an opportunity for adding a ‘combo’ tag of a Mule Deer or Elk to go along with your Whitetail.

The Late October Pre-Rut hunt is ran by AWGS Partner – David Bzawy out of our Northcamp area & lodge in an area we use exclusively for ‘Archery’. On this hunt you’ll find yourself sitting treestand locations that are set up to take advantage of the movement of bucks that have set up shop in & around the does activity in the given areas. Our scouting program which includes monitoring areas visually, as well as with our many scouting cameras, allow us to locate, watch, & monitor many mature Shooter Class bucks in our area.

As this timeframe is true rut preparation time, our bucks are very active laying down sign daily in the form of rubs & scrapes, in & around the areas that the does are using. Bucks are following in a loose pattern with the does, & our setups take advantage of these movements.

Alberta Canada Archery Whitetail Hunting

Our vast experience in both Bowhunting, along with Guiding for, scouting for, and patterning of mature Whitetails, is used to formulate setups along traditional ‘travel corridors’ & ‘high interaction areas’. We hunt pretty hard on this hunt, pulling all day sits & burning many stand hours in these great locations in anticipation of a good buck passing through. We also utilize ‘rattling & calling’ on this hunt, as it has been proactive as well. Our hunters have found that mental toughness is a requirement, as you may have to sit through a ‘zero’ day or two – awaiting the day when you can tally & get within bow range of a true once in a lifetime Whitetail buck!

Remember, as we like to remind our hunters – that this IS Canada – which means lower deer density. You may not see large numbers of deer per day, but you WILL be sitting in areas that contain large antlered mature bucks that are true ‘HAWGS’!

By hunting this ‘Bowhunter’s Paradise’, & combining our areas, experience, & dedication – along with your patience, skill, equipment, & experience – we have a great shot at making your Alberta Bowhunt an experience of a lifetime.
